Calcium Carbonate is an important and widely used inorganic salt. Heavy calcium carbonate (Heavy Calcium Carbonate) also known as grinding calcium carbonate (Ground Calcium Carbonate, referred to as GCC in the United States called Kotamite), is made by mechanical methods to directly crush the natural calcite, limestone, chalk, shell and so on. Because its settling volume (1.1-1.9mL/g/ g) is smaller than that of light calcium carbonate produced by chemical method (2.4-2.8mL/g), it is called heavy calcium carbonate.
White powder, colorless, tasteless. Stable in the air. It is almost insoluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. Dilute acetic acid, dilute hydrochloric acid and dilute nitric acid boil and dissolve. Heat up to 898 degrees and decompose to calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.
According to different granularity, it is divided into ordinary heavy calcium powder, superfine heavy calcium carbonate, wet grinding superfine calcium carbonate and ultrafine surface modified heavy calcium carbonate.
The chemical formula of calcium carbonate is CaCO3, and its crystal is mainly composed of calcite and trapezite with three sides of three square crystals. At normal temperature and pressure, calcite is stable, and the aragonite is quasi stable. At present, calcite is the main type.
At normal pressure, calcite is heated to 898 C and heated to 825 centigrade, which will be decomposed into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. Calcium carbonate is reacted with all strong acids, producing water and corresponding calcium salt (such as calcium chloride CaCl2) and releasing carbon dioxide at the same time. The concentration of calcium carbonate in water is 8.7 * 1029 at normal temperature (25 degrees C), and the concentration of calcium carbonate is 8.7 * 1029. The pH value of calcium carbonate solution is 9. 5~10. 2 and the pH value of air saturated calcium carbonate solution is 8. 0~8. 6. The degree is 0.0014. Calcium carbonate is nontoxic, odorless and non irritating, usually white, with a relative density of 2. 7~2. 9. The Morse hardness calcite is 3, and the aragonite is 3. 5~4. Calcite has three sets of rhombohedral cleavage and aragonite cleavage. The settlement volume of heavy calcium carbonate: 1. 2~1. 9ml/g, the specific surface area is about 1m2/g; heavy calcium carbonate, because of large particles, smooth surface, small specific surface area, so the oil absorption value is lower, about 48ml/100g.
The shape of heavy calcium carbonate is irregular, the particle size difference is large, and the particle has a certain angle, the surface is rough, the particle size is wide, the particle size is larger, the average particle size is generally 1~10 mu m. According to its original average particle size (d), heavy calcium carbonate can be divided into coarse grinding calcium carbonate (> 3 mu m), fine grinding calcium carbonate (1~3 mu m) and superfine calcium carbonate (0. 5~1 micron m heavy calcium carbonate). The shape of A. particles is irregular, B. particle size is wide and C. particle size is larger.
